Interested in learning a traditional form of mahjong? Whether you already know American Mahjong or you don’t know any version at all but the discourse around it has piqued your interest, this workshop is for you!
What to Expect:
The South Seat offers approachable, social instruction in traditional Hong Kong Mahjong. Our workshops are designed to introduce people to the game in a welcoming environment, with an emphasis on learning through play rather than lengthy instruction. At the end of the two-hour session, you will be comfortable playing independently. No prior mahjong experience is required.
We’ll provide the tiles, mats, and instructional materials.
Kids ages 10+ welcome.
Light snacks will be provided to enjoy while you play.
BYOB:
Bring your favorite beverage to sip during open play, if you’d like. We’ll have a bottle opener, cups, ice, and water on hand!

We will be playing in the courtyard, so dress accordingly.
